On Friday, July 12th many of the incoming freshmen – myself included – came to AC for Sneak Peek Day. The students who came got to check out their dorm rooms and explore the rest of the dorm. They also (hopefully) got to meet their new roommate if he or she came to Sneak Peek Day. Once they were done in the dorms, they could go to Ritchie Marketplace and have lunch. In my opinion, one of the best parts of the day was getting my new free t-shirt. I mean, really, who doesn’t like a free shirt? :)
If you didn’t get to meet your roommate, never fear! You’ve got the whole year to get to know your roommate and become friends. Plus, with the kinds of social networking we have around today – twitter, facebook, email, and texting – you shouldn’t have any problem contacting your new roommate. (BONUS: coming soon, AC Class of 2017 facebook pages! I'll keep you updated!) If none of those options work for you, there is always “snail mail” for you to fall back on. Whatever it is, you’ll be able to find some way to communicate with your roommate before August 18th. I didn’t get to meet my roommate, but, like I said, it’s pretty easy to find a way to contact each other that works for the both of you, and my roommate and I are already working things out.
Walking around campus on Sneak Peek Day was pretty awesome. I’ve always loved Adrian’s campus, but on my previous three visits it had always been ice-cold and snowy. I like a snow covered landscape as much as the next person, but my favorite seasons are spring and summer, so it was really great to see AC in all of its green and flowery glory. I think I can say (completely objectively, of course ;)) that AC has the most beautiful campus around.
Now, more than ever, I am looking forward to moving into my dorm in just a little over a month, and I am very excited to set up my room with my roommate and, of course, get all of the stuff that we will need for our dorm room to make AC our home away from home.
