Over this years spring break our ACHA Lady Bulldogs headed to York, PA for the ACHA D1 National Tournament. There were 8 teams that attended this tournament, they included: Miami University, Liberty University, University of Michigan, University of Massachusetts, Grand Valley State University, Adrian College, Penn State University and University of Minnesota. With an overall regular season record of 19 wins, 8 ties and 6 losses for the Lady Bulldogs, and an unfortunate early elimination at playoffs, fans were skeptical if they would even qualify for the tournament. But the Bulldogs did qualify and they made quite a showing their first game against UofM with a 3-0 win, followed by a 1-1 tie against defending National Champions Miami University. I asked one of the players to share some of her thoughts and emotions going into the tournament. Captain of the Lady Bulldogs Jenna Jubinville said “Entering nationals I expected us to make a good showing and give it our all because of what occurred at playoffs the following weekend. Beating Michigan and then tying Miami was huge, I think it gave us confidence to make a decent showing and I was overall happy with how we came together at the end.” The Lady Bulldogs plan to attend the tournament again next year, but this time to bring home the National title. Keep going girls, go dawgs!
