Friday Night when you take the field, stop for a minute and look around you. Breath in the fall air, see the sky around you, listen to the wind, feel the energy and embrace it. This is what playoff football feels like. From the time you started playing football, this is what you have been working towards. This game. This one Friday night game is what the sweat, blood and tears have always been for. Those 6am workouts, passing scrimmages, and two-a-days, you know how hard you have worked to get here. You deserve to be here. But what happens now is up to you.
When you take the field tonight, believe in yourself, believe in your coaches and believe in your teammates. Play fast, play hard and have fun. Hold your heads high and attack. Bleed green and bleed white. Play tough: the only way you know how. Embrace the moment and enjoy it. Focus on the task at hand and never give up. Breath and feel your heartbeat. Together with your team united, don't be afraid of the unknown. Prepare to win. Believe it.
Friday night the national anthem is going to play, and you will stand there facing the American flag. As you listen to the song, realize that nothing in your football career will be like this moment. You are not only playing for the name on the back of your jersey but you are playing for the name on the front. You are playing for a community and a team of tradition. A team of passion and heart. Every past player wishes they could be in your position. They wish they could put those pads on one more time. To be able to buckle their helmets, and throw on the pads for just one more game. Friday night, fight for every inch. From the first kick off to the last whistle, never give up. Dream big. Play like champions. Believe. Fight. Compete. Win. And as always, "God Bless Lake Orion."
