20 life lessons in 20 years.

A friend recently told me, "Kyle I am almost 20." My response was simple. Stop wishing for the next event in your life to happen so that you can appreciate what you have right in front of you. Even though life is passing quickly, it is teaching us important lessons to remember along the way. Don't take anything for granted, love the people around you as much as you can and remember that adversity will happen. We are young and we need to enjoy every aspect life has to offer. Realize that we are not old yet, so live in the moment and live life to the fullest in order to stay true to who you are.

1. Laughter cures everything.

2. Embrace change.

Change is inevitable. We need to accept change in every aspect while still making the most out of every situation. Every one of us was put on this Earth for a distinct purpose, so go out and discover it.

3. Accept failure.

Life is similar to a roller coaster. You will have ups followed by many downs. It is important to accept failure, learn from your mistakes, and use the negative in life to make it a positive one.

4. Live in the moment

5. Appreciate what you have.

You might not always have the things you currently do, so it is important to not take anything or anyone for granted. Everyone always says to count your blessings and not your problems. What seems like a bad day to you, could be nothing in comparison to someone else. Be sure to count your blessings twice.

6. It doesn't matter how good of a singer you are, sing as loud as possible.

7. Exercise and eat right, but a cheat day is also good.

8. Life's too short to not take chances.

9. It's okay to not have life figured out.

I promise you that no one has their entire life figured out at age twenty. If someone seems like it, they are probably just faking it until they make it. Remember that we are young, so go out into the World and experience new things, take chances, and find what your true passion may be.

10. Take school seriously.

Your grades do matter and anyone who claims otherwise is lying. Push yourself to succeed in the classroom because it can only benefit you in the long run.

11. Crying doesn't make you weak. It shows you care.

12. Take Pictures

"The best part about pictures is even when the people in the photo change, the memory it contains never will."

13. Tell your parents thank you.

Everyone deserves an honest and sincere thank you every once in a while.

Thank you mom and dad for everything you have done for me and continue to do. I would not be the person I am today without your endless love and support.

14. Write.

15. Don't lose sight of who you are.

Don't waste your time trying to be someone you are not. Stay true to yourself no matter what. Your friends and family will love you for who you are.

16. If you want something, work for it.

Nothing worth having comes easy.

17. Keep your inner child alive.

18. Have fun.

Stop stressing about useless things and don't worry about what you can't change. Have some fun and live a little!

19. Spend time with the people you love.

20. Remember to live. You're only twenty.

I am only twenty, but I am reminding myself to live to the fullest. Through my experiences, I have learned numerous useful lessons along the way. I am both excited and nervous to discover what the future holds.
