When you were a little kid, did you ever write a letter in class to be opened 10 years later? Or did you ever write a letter to your mom or dad about something special? Maybe you had a pen pal or just wrote for fun. Letters to me have always been meaningful because someone took the time to actually write something meaningful out. Not just a text but almost a full conversation. I wanted this week to write three letters. One to myself for the future, one to two people who have made a big impact on my life, and third to my my little sister.
In 20 years hopefully you can look back at this and understand where it’s coming from or why it was written. I am trying to give you some advice from the future that I have learned in such a short amount of time. Let the small stuff go and make it stop bothering you. Sometimes you cannot control things that other people do. The only thing you can control is how good of a person you are going to be. So just keep being the person you are and one day someone will realize everything that you sacrifice for the people around you. Never stop working for you goals and reaching for your dreams. Continue to set goals for yourself and keep working to achieve them. No one can stand in your way if you keep on the path you are on. It will not be easy but hard work, determination and perseverance will always pay off. Hopefully by now you have found the one. The one who makes you laugh and constantly keeps up a completion. One who makes you a better you. My last bit of short advice is I know at this time you think that people always leave. The truth is people will enter your life and some people will leave. All you can do is enjoy the time you have with each and every person and let the pain heal and watch the love grow stronger. I know that you put everything you have into each friendship; each relationship and you try to please everyone you possibly can. There are going to be people who take advantage of this or who are oblivious to this notion. Don’t stop being you because of it. The people who are meant to stay in your life will put an effort in and will show their true colors. Trust yourself and never give up. Be who you are and never change for anyone.
Dear the twins,
I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done this year. Without you, I don’t know what my year would look like. You constantly make me laugh and smile when I need it most. You constantly challenge me to be the best on the field and in the classroom. We are like a married couple + 1 because of our constant bickering and arguing, but I would not have it any other way. Through the pain we endure, to the memories we make, every day is an adventure and each day brings new laughs. Whether were picking up toothpicks or fighting policy, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and you two have showed me how bright that light can truly shine. I know you both are scared for the future, but I know you will both do great things. The two of you have made this year one of the best and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
Dear Little Sister,
Never stop believing in yourself. No matter what anyone tells you, you are strong, beautiful and unique in your own way. You have been working so hard for what this season is about to bring and just give it your all. You do not need some person standing beside your holding your hand. You have gotten to where you are because the determination, hark work and attitude you have put into everything. Your family is so proud of you, and we know that you have learned from you mistakes. You are learning that it doesn’t matter what anyone else does around you because you are not them. You are the one and only ,goofy, wild and crazy you. That is what makes you so special. I love you and can’t wait to see you soon. Keep your head up and believe.
So if your feeling up to it, write someone a letter. Connect with an old friend, send a thank you, or write one just to say hello. A letter will make someones day better and in the end, thats something to be happy about
