This past weekend was the annual Adrian College Spring Concert. From start to finish, our performers put on an entertaining show and didn’t let the crowd down. We were able to catch up with performers, Ryan Betz (Hitman) and Nico and Vinz after the show to see what they thought about Adrian College and their experiences as artists.
Bulldog Project: How do you feel about opening up for the concert?
Ryan Betz:I am very excited about performing. I opened up two years ago for Timeflies, but this being my senior year makes it all the more special and I am very excited to do what I love.
Bulldog Project: What is your favorite part about performing?
Ryan Betz: The best part about performing live is the crowd. I love the energy the crowd gives off and I feed off of it as a performer. It allows me to enjoy what I am doing and have a blast doing it.
Bulldog Project: What songs did you perform tonight?
Ryan Betz: I performed We Live It, Brand New, and Bold. Overall my favorite song to sing is We Live It and I think that is the song where I can connect with the crowd the best.
Bulldog Project: What are your plans after you graduate in the music industry?
Ryan Betz: I hope to continue to connect and network with people in the music industry. I hope to keep performing and putting myself out there to create a name for myself. Music is a love of mine and a big part of who I am. I hope to find a way to continue doing it for the rest of my life.
Nico and Vinz:
Bulldog Project: Where are you from and how has that influenced who you are as artists?
Nico and Vinz: We are both from Norway and and it definitely provides us inspiration. We try to incorporate from our heritage as well as keep it popular with today's sounds. But we are very much our own sound and take pride in that.
Bulldog Project:What was it like performing at Adrian College?
Nico and Vinz: Well this is our first time ever performing in Michigan, and we loved it. Seeing a campus like this one come together for one night brings us joy as performers. We are excited at the turnout and glad we could share what we love to do with everyone else.
Bulldog Project: What is your favorite part about performing live?
Nico and Vinz: The crowd. We love playing our classic hits that everyone can sing along to but we also enjoy trying out new new songs to see the reaction from the people. Connecting with the crowd is the biggest factor though because we love to make people smile and connect through music.
Bulldog Project: What are your plans for the future?
Nico and Vinz: For the longest time we were just known as Norwegian Artists, and now that we have hit the American music scene we hope to remain and stay for a while. The United State is the mecca of the music industry so if we can make it here than we can make it anywhere in the world.
Bulldog Project: Do you have any advice for yours fan or upcoming artists?
Nico and Vinz: Hard work really does pay off. Stay true to yourself and do what you believe in. As long as you persevere and never give up, then everything will fall into place. Take opportunities when they come along and just do what you love to do.
We were unable to interview him due to his crazy schedule, but looking back on his overall performance, Sammy had the crowd pumped up from the start and never looked back. His presence on stage with his high energy allowed the fans to jump right along side him singing as loud as they could. Sammy played classic favorite such as All Night longer and Only one, but he also debuted some of the new songs that will be released on his new album The Long Way.
All in all it was a great concert that fans of all ages seemed to enjoy. We thank Ryan “Hitman” Betz, Sammy Adams, and Nico & Vinz for putting on a fantastic show and cannot wait to see who Adrian College has to top them next year!
